The Bariamis workshop, based in Agrinio, started in 1930 with the production of the vanilla submarine ‘spoon sweet’, candies and lollipops. It was then that grandpa Bariamis supplied Agrinio and the surrounding areas with his wonderful sweets and particularly with his vanilla submarine, which was based on an exceptional recipe. This recipe, unlike all the others, quickly made the submarine loved as it gave it a fluffy texture, easy for the mouth and an aromatic flavor.
This vanilla submarine recipe is still used today by the family’s new generation, and through the addition of excellent herbs from the Cyclades, such as lavender, it acquires finesse and a countryside aroma. With a velvety texture and a soft, sweet flavor it continues to be consumed in the traditional way, by dipping a spoon of vanilla in a glass of cold water.
