This is a small family unit of organic honey production in Serifos, which chooses to use the concept of the family business as its brand name; Family Beez honey, and as in most agricultural stories in Greece, the grandfather was the one who laid the foundations of the production. The Rota family is the second generation of producers, who base their work on a 40-year tradition in the production and distribution of honey, continuing the work of their parents.
The Family Beez beehives are situated in a location of exceptional importance; Mavra Voladia and Mesa Akrotiri, situated in the southwest part of Serifos, where according to mythology Odysseus met Cyclops Polyphemus. Today, the area because of its geomorphological formations is an especially important natural habitat which is home to, among others, the Mediterranean monk seal (Monachus monachus), and has been classified as «Natura 2000».
